The Beginning and the end
RAFI AND ROSI MENU! RAFI Y ROSI ¡MENÚ!
It’s bittersweet. The final title of the Rafi and Rosi Coquí series, Rafi and Rosi Menu! and its Spanish version Rafi y Rosi ¡Menú!, will be released September 9. I’m thrilled to launch the book, but I’m saddened to see their adventures end.
It’s been a long ride for these tree frogs, ambassadors of Puerto Rico since 2004, when the first title was published. Each book features three distinct stories centered on a specific theme: nature, carnival, history, music, and now the island’s delicious food! Woven into the fabric of the rollicking adventures of the curious sibling duo is the abiding love for each other.
Like in all books of the JLG Gold Standard series, the stories of Rafi and Rosi Menu!, and Rafi y Rosi ¡Menú! are crafted after much research on the subject matter. I love to cook and you’ll be happy to learn that I’m sharing with readers three recipes of traditional foods that I’ve been preparing in my kitchen for several decades.
I’m intent in sending off this adorable duo with a bang! After decades of making kids laugh, and laugh, and laugh some more, I’d love to to make Menu the best selling of all the Rafi and Rosi titles. To that effect, I’m eager to know if any educator or writer friend would like a review copy. In English or Español, think of content for a blog, podcast, or roundup of books under a theme and reach out to me! Even reviews on Goodreads help.
I will be at ALA’s Annual Conference in Philadelphia, and would love to personalize an advance reading copy. Stop by Lee & Low Books Booth 313 and get yours. And, while there—shh— I will also give away super cute temporary tattoos of the characters for some lucky young patrons at some lucky library! Limited supplies. Come early.
